On our recent travels, Shawn and I spent a day in Nashville. It was the perfect day to explore one of Nashville's hot spots, 12South. This neighborhood is a one-stop shop where you'll find everything from stylish boutiques to some amazing restaurants. Everything is walking distance making it super convenient.
While we were there, I made a stop into Reese Witherspoon's boutique, Draper James which represents southern charm and fashion at its finest. Funny thing, my blue and white striped top ended up matching the walls on the side of the boutique, making for a really fun photoshoot. I have to say, I'm obsessed with this look. I usually love any look that includes white denim and mules. White denim always makes for a crispy clean look. And when it comes to mules, I can literally wear then everyday for the rest of my life! They are so comfortable and pair well with EVERYTHING! I was instantly obsessed with these metallic silver gems from Steve Madden the moment I saw them.
Our main reason for visiting was to indulge in some of Nashville's best food. One thing that I had my mind on was finally trying some "Hot Chicken" which is a local specialty. You can find 'hot chicken' all over Nashville, but we went to the famous Hattie B's. You guys! The food definitely lived up to it's hype. It was sooooo good. The spices were so flavorful. We even went all out and had a bunch of sides along with it like collard greens, macaroni & cheese, and potato salad. To seal the deal, we shared a delicious peach cobbler that had me tempted to order another.
We also stopped by The Flipside to indulge in some more guilty pleasures. I loved the retro diner vibe of this place. One thing about me, is that I've always been obsessed with styles/trends of the decades. It's a constant wish of mine to have been able to live through every decade (mainly for the music and fashion.) Flipside definitely gave me my fix by making me feel as if I was in the 60s. If only the waitress rolled up to our table in her rollerblades handing us some milkshakes and fries.
A popular dish at Flipside are the Tater Tot Nachos. What exactly are tater tot nachos you ask? Well, it's a plate of tater tots topped with melted cheese, bacon bits, avocado, jalapenos, tomatoes, and green onions. I know, it sounds insane!! I've never heard of such a thing, but I'm glad that I tried it. It was amazing!
Nashville was certainly good to us. Before leaving we were already talking of revisiting to see more landmarks and then enjoy some nightlife action because one day is just not enough. Until next time Nashville!
