If you’re like me and into watching classic movies, then it’s likely that you’ve seen “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” starring the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn. That means, you would also know that there was no such thing as actually having breakfast at Tiffany's...until now at least. Some months back, Tiffany & Co finally opened up The Blue Box Cafe where you can actually dine in for both breakfast and lunch - unlike Audrey Hepburn in the movie where she enjoyed her croissant from outside while looking in.
The Blue Box Cafe was everything that I expected it to be. It's a small space that gives a very intimate feel which I loved. The decor was very elegant and true to the Tiffany brand with the signature Tiffany blue everywhere from the table setting to the paint on the walls.
With many options to choose from, I opted for one of the lunch dishes. As a starter, I had the Chilled Pea Soup with tiny bits of applewood bacon that gave it a nice crunch and flavor. For my main course, I went with the Fifth Avenue Salad that consisted of Maine lobster, avocado, and grapefruit with a poppy seed dressing. It was amazing! Shawn decided to go with a breakfast option that started with a croissant and 3 spreads - Nutella, whipped butter, and fruit preserves with a bowl of fresh fruit and berries. His main dish was the Smoked Salmon & Bagel stack with tomato, capers, and cream cheese. That too was very delicious.
Along with our meals, we had to try some of their signature drinks. Starting with The Tiffany Blend tea. Shawn also ordered one of their refreshers called Emerald. It was made up of honeydew, cucumber, parsley, granny smith apple, and citrus. Very refreshing and delicious!
The overall experience of The Blue Box Cafe was amazing. The staff was lovely and the food was great. I definitely believe that Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) would have appreciated it. It's for sure a great place to dine if you can. It's located in the New York Flagship store on 5th Avenue. They do not accept walk ins or over the phone reservations. All tables must be booked online. Reservations open up 30 days in advance at 9am ET. Tables book extremely fast so you'll have to be on point and ready!
